The Clock Tower

The Clock Tower

The Clock Tower was built as a memorial to members of the University College who died in the Great War of 1914-18. It now also commemorates those who died in more recent conflicts. The Tower formed the central point for a service of commemoration held in 2014 during the Friends’ Heritage event on the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. Its bell was tolled 144 times, once for each life lost.
